Yesterday LA songstress Morgan Kibby AKA White Sea shared new single “Gangster No. 1”. Listen to the song via Soundcloud below.

Commenting on the inspiration for the song, Kibby offered, “This is probably my most raw. I really let it all hang out lyrically in a way that leaves me utterly exposed – but I’m proud of that. My favorite songs are those that expose a writer’s vulnerability, and so I went for it with this one.” “Gangster No. 1” is preceded by singles “Stay Young, Get Stoned” and “Never a Woman”.

White Sea’s Morgan Kibby released her debut full-length In Cold Blood in 2014. The album earned her tours supporting Phantogram and The Naked and Famous, and spots on music festivals like SXSW, Sasquatch, and Lollapalooza. Kibby previously contributed to M83’s release Saturdays=Youth, and co-wrote the songs including the track “Kim & Jessie”. She returned to the studio with M83 to contribute to their sixth album, Hurry Up We’re Dreaming. More recently, Kibby collaborated with Big Data as a writer and featured vocalist on “Business of Emotion.” Kibby also composed the original score to Eva Husson’s upcoming French film Bang Gang that debuted at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival. Also a venerable remix artist, Kibby has remixed tracks for a range of artists including: Lord Huron, The Naked and Famous, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Imagine Dragons, School of Seven Bells, Lorde, Active Child, Manchester Orchestra, Kevin Devine, New Politics and more.
