Linda Perhacs
Paralellograms
Linda Perhacs’ psych-folk opus Parallelograms has enjoyed a perennial resurgence since it surfaced on collectors’ radars in the ‘90s. Gentle as it is profound, few records have been able to capture this kind of emotional depth. A beautiful stranger’s mind on a breezy summer’s day is framed by full arrangements and lucid vocal delivery. Anthology will release the definitive edition of Parallelograms, mastered from the original tapes, with a bonus LP of demos and interviews on April 29.
Creation Rebel/New Age Steppers
Threat To Creation
Anthology Recordings will present the first-ever U.S. edition of Creation Rebel / New Age Steppers‘ Threat To Creation on April 29. This 1981 collaboration between two acts on Adrian Sherwood’s nascent On-U Sound label captures the dubbed-out pressure of living in Thatcherite London, a city flattened by class warfare and left to fend for itself. Threat To Creationchannels raw, earthy blues through pounding rhythms and left-field sonic anachronisms, reclaiming dub reggae as a music defined by the struggle. Sherwood’s touch formed crucial links between dub and punk rock, fostered through guest appearances by Ari Up (The Slits) and Keith Levene (Public Image Ltd.).
