Mexican Summer have announced the relaunch of Anthology Recordings, the reissue arm of the Mexican Summer label group. Collectors and new listeners alike can look forward to the April 29 re-release of both Linda Perhacs‘ Parallelograms and Creation Rebel/New Age Steppers‘ Threat To Creation. Rarities from German synth composer Rüdiger Lorenz as well as The Stroke Band (members of The Unknowns, Gumball, Half Japanese) will soon follow, with many more on the way.

In 2007, Anthology Recordings became the world’s first digital label to focus exclusively on introducing hundreds of out-of-print albums from the back pages of music history to the MP3 marketplace. After a three-year hiatus Anthology has now expanded its mission as a physical reissue label, providing high-quality vinyl, CDs and digital downloads with the same curatorial focus and artist input that has fueled the imprint from day one, across any genre of music worth rediscovering.

Linda Perhacs’ psych-folk opus Parallelograms has enjoyed a perennial resurgence since it surfaced on collectors’ radars in the ‘90s. Gentle as it is profound, few records have been able to capture this kind of emotional depth. A beautiful stranger’s mind on a breezy summer’s day is framed by full arrangements and lucid vocal delivery. Anthology will release the definitive edition of Parallelograms, mastered from the original tapes, with a bonus LP of demos and interviews on April 29.
