Founded in 2002, Paper Bag Records has worked tirelessly to become one of North America’s leading independent record labels and continues to establish itself as an indie-powerhouse around the world. We’re proud to be based in Toronto, one of the most exciting and talent-rich music scenes in the world and we take it upon ourselves to serve up some of the best new music this city has to offer. We believe strongly in moving great Canadian music forward for the world to hear.
Back in the day, Paper Bag Records helped release Broken Social Scene’s “You Forgot It in People”, Stars’ “Heart”, and Tokyo Police Club’s “A Lesson in Crime”. Broken Social Scene’s album went on to win a JUNO Award, not bad for the label’s first year in business.
Paper Bag Records has been through a number of transformations over the years. We’ve assembled an incredible and ever-growing team of artists who continue to write sensational music and tour the planet. Our roster to date includes: Austra, Born Ruffians, CFCF, Cuff The Duke, Elliott BROOD, PS I Love You, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Slim Twig, Winter Gloves, Woodhands, You Say Party, and Young Galaxy to name a few. Get a feel of our artists by checking out Paper Bag Records’ “Downloads” and “Videos” pages.
2012 is set to be our best year yet. We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary and, best of all, we’re looking forward to even more music as we add Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, The Luyas, Moonface, and JUNO Award winner Tim Hecker to the Paper Bag family! Sit tight and keep your ears to the ground for more information… or, to make your life easier, you can just sign up for our newsletter and be the first to know what’s happening.
