“La La La” By Mike Krol

Last month, Mike Krol brought his Ball & Chain Tour all over North America. Krol and his squad are now ready to take on Europe, and today he’s sharing a music video for “La La La” off his Merge debut, Turkey. Premiering on The AV Club, it’s a fantastic peek into the album’s recording process.

Mike Krol elaborates:
“Director/editor Andrew Van Dorn and I availed ourselves of Split Screen Technology to give you a sense of what it was like to be in a dicey part of Sacramento, circa March 2014, trying to make a whole record in four days. On the right we see producer/engineer Beau Sorenson, raconteur/co-producer Elliott Kozel, and me mixing “La La La” in the old school tradition: 2 a.m., tape rolling, hands on faders, no computers, no bullshit. On the left side of the video you see Team Krol living the Rock And Roll Life, which mostly consisted of leaving the studio once daily for a delicious Brisket Sandwich at Firehouse Subs. At no point did we think that anyone would hear or care about this album. Or that any of the stupid photos and videos we took would end up in a music video.”

Turkey is available on LP and CD in the Merge store or at your favorite independent record shop, and digitally on iTunes. Mike Krol and his band wrap up their North American tour tomorrow in Chicago, and the European leg begins on October 23 in Valencia, Spain.
