Waxahatchee announces Early Recordings

Waxahatchee announces Early Recordings. Katie Crutchfield will reissue 'Early Recordings' on cassette and download

On June 17, Katie Crutchfield will reissue Early Recordings on limited-edition cassette and digital download. Featuring new artwork by Chelsea Dirck, this release includes the first songs she wrote and recorded as Waxahatchee.

Katie shared the impetus behind the release: They came out five years ago as a super limited split cassette that was mostly for friends and family, and truth be told, I had largely forgotten about them until this spring while on a solo tour of the West Coast. At first I was tentative about re-listening to these recordings, but the nostalgia I felt when re-hearing them was warm, and I thought it might be nice to make them available again.

This week, “Home Game” from Early Recordings is available to download for $1 on The Spark Mag, accompanied by a lengthy interview with Katie (“Home Game” will begin streaming publicly on June 6). Artist proceeds will go to DIY PHL’s First Time’s The Charm, an event that encourages inclusion and diversity in the music community by actively soliciting the participation of women, queer-identified folks, transgender people, people of color, and musicians playing a new instrument or in a band for the first time.
