Tim Hecker’s forthcoming album, Love Streams, will be released on April 8th on Paper Bag Records. Today, the electronic composer reveals the lead track; a song entitled “Castrati Stack.” Tim Hecker will also hit the road with Love Streams for a string of live dates, starting April 7th at the Union in Los Angeles, CA.
“Inspired by notions of 15th century choral scores transposed to an artificial intelligence-era language of digital resonance and bright synths, Love Streams was assembled gradually, with layers of studio-tracked keyboards, choir and woodwinds being woven into the mix, then molded and disfigured through complex programming. ‘Castrati Stack’ continues to showcase Hecker’s remarkable ability to find balance between raucous dissonance and a meditative lament that has long marked his works”.
Along with the album release of the song, comes a video from Brett Stabler, watch the footage via the link below.
The Love Streams sessions took place throughout 2014 and 2015 at Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavik, Iceland – where parts of both previous albums Virgins and Ravedeath, 1972 were tracked – with Hecker reuniting with the same crew of collaborators from Virgins (Kara-Lis Coverdale, Grímur Helgason) and bolstered by the Icelandic Choir Ensemble, whose vocal arrangements were scored by Icelandic composer Johann Johannsson.
