PREMIERE of Speaker Face single “Orogenesis”

Speaker Face continues to share tracks from their upcoming record with “Orogenesis”. The single is out today via Hybridity Music and it’s the fifth track to come out off their debut full-length Driftwood.

The song title describes the formation process of mountains, and is (non-coincidentally) being released on Earth Day.

In the band’s words, “Orogenesis is the process in which mountains are formed. This piece is a meditation on the perpetual transformations and movements of our planet, and the relatively tiny blip of time that we have to enjoy it. To us, it feels “still,” but the Earth is not stagnant. It is in a constant state of fluidity, and the occasional times we witness it’s shifts, we are quickly reminded of our delicate position on it’s surface. In mountain years, we humans are mere dinner guests, stopping in for a meal and leaving after a beer. Let’s do our best not to break the nice dishes and leave a bunch of fucking wine stains on the carpet.”

Speaker Face is an award-winning Toronto-based experimental electronic group comprised of Trent Freeman and Eric Wright. Speaker Face won two awards at the 2015 Vancouver Island Music Awards, for Electronic/Dance Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year for their track “Vertical.” While touring in Europe with a different band, they decided to collaborate after discovering their mutual love of modern electronic music. After composing their first track in Germany, the duo was formed as a true collision of their personal sounds.

Combining synthesizers and electronic beats seamlessly with the violin and piano, Speaker Face sets out to do what producer, Nigel Goldrich, once put so well: “to blur the line between what’s generated electronically and what’s generated by a human being.”
