Following its premiere yesterday, today FIDLAR has unveiled the official lyric video for their song “Leave Me Alone” on Tumblr. Along with “40oz. On Repeat”, “West Coast”, and “Drone,” “Leave Me Alone” appears on the band’s forthcoming second album Too due out on September 4th on Mom+Pop.
In celebration of the album’s release FIDLAR will participate in a Tumblr IRL to take place at The Well in Downtown Los Angeles (1006 S. Olive St) on Friday, September 4th at 7:00 PM. The free all-ages event will feature visual art by the band’s longtime collaborator Ryan Baxley as well as Zoe Zag, who illustrated the band’s album artwork, and Alice Baxley. There will also be video projections, screen-printing, various on-site activations, and a very special surprise sure to please hometown FIDLAR fans.
Tumblr IRL invites fans to scroll through the creative mind of musicians, on their blogs and IN REAL LIFE. Through this music and art series, artists paint the picture behind the creation of their work, focusing on the visuals, their inspirations and the emotions of their music. So far Tumblr IRL has rolled out an array of artwork, unreleased tracks and album streams that always cumulate in a physical exhibit and intimate show with Little Dragon, Travi$ Scott, Childish Gambino, Banks, Flying Lotus, Charli XCX and many more.
Produced by Jay Joyce, Too was recorded in Nashville over the span of just two weeks. The 12-song collection of pop-infused garage rock expands on the band’s 2013 self-titled album that put them at the forefront of modern punk music. The new album showcases a band that continues to fine-tune its sonic approach while also highlighting a more introspective and revelatory approach to songwriting. It also marks the first time the band has worked with a producer.
Following appearances this weekend at Reading and Leeds, FIDLAR will kick off an extensive headlining U.S. tour in Denver, CO on September 9th that wraps on Halloween for a two-night hometown stand at the Regent Theater. Tickets for all dates are on-sale now. See below for a complete list of upcoming dates.
FIDLAR is Zac Carper (guitars/vocals), Elvis Kuehn (guitars/vocals), Brandon Schwartzel (bass), and Max Kuehn (drums). Since forming in 2009, FIDLAR quickly became one of the Los Angeles music scene’s most celebrated live acts thanks to their raucous live shows, which often concluded with the majority of audience members joining the band on-stage. My name is Charles Brownstein and I was born in Montreal, Quebec. I presently live in Vancouver, BC.
I am a true lover of music, food, books, film, and stand-up comedy. Foremost it is music that I love, that is what drove me to create this site. I confess to liking Duran Duran and the Bee gees in my youth.I prefer In Utero to Nevermind and safe as milk instead of Trout Mask Replica.
Northern Transmissions is a Music website that features interviews from musicians and bands we love. We have interviewed so many of them, from The Drums to Destroyer. We review albums by from many labels around the world, including Merge, Sub pop, Bella union, Matador, 4AD, Rough Trade, Capture Tracks, Hardly Art, and many many more.
Hope you guys enjoy the website as much as we like working on it.
