CMJ Announces Line-Up for 2015 Music Marathon

CMJ Music Marathon returns to New York City from October 1317, 2015 and continues to be one of the world’s most important platforms for the discovery of new music. The first round of performing artists has just been announced, featuring some of the best veteran, breakthrough and emerging artists from around the world.

Confirmed CMJ 2015 performers include acclaimed saxophonist Kamasi Washington, whose debut album The Epic is one of the best-reviewed albums of the year; 2015 breakout Canadian singer / songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr.; Perfect Pussy who return to CMJ after being one of the festival’s breakout artists in 2013; gospel-jazz supergroup The Word, featuring Robert Randolph, John Medeski and the North Mississippi Allstars; DRINKS, the new collaboration between Cate Le Bon and White Fence’s Tim Presley; Saint Pé, the new project from former Black Lips guitarist Ian Saint Pé; and Seattle-based musician Will Toledo aka Car Seat Headrest, who just announced his signing to Matador Records.

A few of the showcases at CMJ 2015 include ASCAP, ATO Records, Austin Psychfest, BBC, BerkleeSchool of Music, Brooklyn Vegan, FLOOD Magazine, Harvest Records, Neon Gold, SESAC, Sub Pop Records and The Syndicate.

CMJ continues to draw the best emerging international artists and showcases. A few of the artists heading to CMJ this fall include breakout Australian rapper Allday; Glaswegian garage rock band WOMPS; Moscow-based new wave band Pompeya; UK punk band Arrows Of Love; Belgian indie rock bandBalthazar; psychedelic rockers Death By Unga Bunga from Norway; acclaimed New Zealand crooner Marlon Williams; and much more. A few of the countries and international organizations hosting showcases are New Zealand, Taiwan, the British Consulate, Music from Ireland, Aussie BBQ, and Canadian Blast.

From October 13October 17, 2015, CMJ will host five nonstop days and nights of live performances in New York City’s greatest venues, and will present four days of conference events with renowned speakers, an Entertainment Business Law Seminar and College Day—a day programmed especially for college and non-commercial radio programmers. Dream Downtown will be CMJ’s new headquarters throughout the conference, conveniently located in NYC’s Meatpacking district.
