“Seven Days” by The Dove and The Wolf

“Seven Days” is off The Dove and The Wolf’s debut EP I Don’t Know What To Feel was originally self-released last year but is being reissued on 24 March via Fat Possum on vinyl with two extra tracks, including the track.

Based in Philadelphia, French friends and songwriting partners Paloma Gil and Lou Hayat needed to renew their visa so returned to Paris after spending the better part of a year in the US touring. It was a long and arduous process involving lawyers, petitioners, letters of recommendation. By November, they’d spent two months in France and were eager to get back to Philly to write. Then the terror attacks happend.

Hayat explains: “In the weeks after, nothing made sense anymore. We were so lost. Thank God we were still in Paris. It was important to be there in those weeks.”

The visas came through eventually after a gruelling five-month wait and when they returned to Philadelphia, they put a band together with drummer Craig Hendrix (Japanese Breakfast, Auctioneer, Jesse Hale Moore, Birdie Busch) and bass player Andy Black (Laser Background). They tracked the songs live with their new band members and Jesse Hale Moore on keys. Produced by Dave Hartley (The War On Drugs, Nightlands) and Nick Krill (The Spinto Band, Teen Men), The Dove and The Wolf created their debut EP as a response to the Paris attacks.
