“Mr. Romance” by Izzy True

Indie-punk quartet Izzy True released their debut LP Nope, last week via Don Giovanni Records. Album opener “Mr. Romance” showcases a melancholy vocal timbre complemented by playful lyrics and upbeat guitar melodies. With a handful of glitter and colorful face paint, Izzy puts their art-punk touch on the “Mr. Romance” video which hones in on the emptiness and sterility that can come from a revolving door of relationships. The “Mr. Romance” video premiered recently.

Izzy True kicked off a lengthy national tour with a hometown show in Ithaca last night, hitting NYC tonight, meandering throughout the South and Northeast, eventually landing in Toronto. Be sure to catch the captivating live show in the city near you!

A rollercoaster of emotion, edgy instrumentation and irresistible melodies, Nope was born out of the experience of frontperson Isabel Reidy dropping out of school and moving home to deal with mental illness. Songwriting became a cathartic and joyful way to combat those issues. The end result is a rock and roll album which makes space for misery. Nope is about magic, loneliness, and learning to like yourself.
