“Until it Goes” by John Congleton

Following the release of the full length Until the Horror Goes and shows at SXSW, John Congleton and the Nighty Nite is premiering the new video for single “Until it Goes”. Directed by Andy Byers for Cosmic Dreamer Productions, the music video almost acts instead as a mini sci-fi horror film, complete with spooky shadows, a man without a face, and lots of blood to accompany the sounds of beautifully contorted electronica.

Opening on a home almost certainly reeking of mothballs, filled to the brim with tchotchke and Nazi memorabilia, an old man lies on his deathbed and the eerie vibes are inevitable. The close-up, quick-moving video serves as a silent horror film made to accompany the soundtrack, instead of the usual vice-versa. Follow the mysterious masked man(?) through his bloody journey to beauty, mirroring the album’s theme of juxtaposition of horror and modernity.

John Congleton and the Nighty Nite’s debut full-length Until the Horror Goes was released on April 1 via Fat Possum Records. After racking up endless production credits, The Nighty Nite picks up where The Paper Chase left off. If you’re looking for the hard-to-find mix of “great poetry” set to an “off-kilter, horror-movie soundtrack”, take a listen to Until the Horror Goes or catch John Congleton and the Nighty Nite on tour.
