“Crime Tip” by Leisure Cruise

Leisure Cruise – Dave Hodge (Broken Social Scene, Bran Van 3000) and singer-songwriter, Leah Siegel (Firehorse, The Citizens Band) – will be getting back out on the road this spring, bringing the music from their debut self-titled release (out now on Last Gang Records) to their Canadian fans. The duo will be touring from Montreal to Vancouver with Metric and Death Cab For Cutie.

Imagine the music of a John Hughes film if it had been written by Bowie, remixed by Johnny Jewel, and fronted by a female Prince, and you’ll start to get the idea. Rounding out the sound is an impressive roster of guests (Metric’s Jimmy Shaw, Blondie’s Tommy Kessler, Liam O’Neil from the Stills, Justin Peroff of Broken Social Scene, and Drake’s Adrian Eccleston). It’s at once dark and light, serious and fun, melancholic and euphoric.

Siegel and Hodge reconnected in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, while Manhattan was powerless and Red Hook submerged. The two had met while recording a TV spot years prior but hadn’t seen each other since. Maybe it was the post-Sandy you-only-live-once feeling but Dave asked Leah if she’d want to do some writing together. The result is Leisure Cruise.
