Field Report have announced additional tour dates for this fall, starting with a hometown show on October 29 in Milwaukee. These dates follow Christopher Porterfield’s solo tour with Noah Gundersen (The Courage), which begins on September 29 in Toronto.

Porterfield has also shared an intimate live recording of “Ambrosia,” off their album Marigolden. The song was filmed in one take during the recording of the album at Unicorn Ranch in Ontario, Canada. Playing an ancient, stripped-down upright piano accompanied only by his own gravelly voice, Porterfield brings forth tender emotion, teetering between regret and hope. He sings:

“I got nothing left to push up against
but this imaginary resonance,
staring at a spot on the opposite shore…
and despite our sins we would not sink
we were buoyed by some brackish grace…
Maybe nothing’s gonna change
maybe something’s gonna change.”

When the song ends, Porterfield offers some commentary and then lifts the notebook of lyrics he’s been reading from off the side of the piano. “Gee whiz,” says someone in the control booth.
