“Solar Pilgrim” by Twain

Rare Feeling" by Twain, is Northern Transmissions' 'Song of the Day'.

Twain has announced, new album Rare Feeling. The full-length will be released on October 20th via Keeled Scales. Recently, friends and fans, Big Thief, premiered the first track from the album, titled “Solar Pilgrim.” The band, described Twain as “a voice for the ineffable that must be heard” and said of the song “He sings of the body’s unrequited courtship with the soul, pulling us through the first dance of this earthy world in its celestial gown, at last vanishing; a love that both leaves us and takes us with it into the unknown.”

Twain is the creation of Mt. Davidson. Over the course of his young career, Davidson has contributed his virtuoso musicianship to the likes of The Low Anthem, Spirit Family Reunion, Deslondes and more. Now narrowing his focus to the solo project, Davidson maintains roots in indie folk and Americana while thoughtfully exploring sounds of psychedelia, making Rare Feeling a distinguishing, multi-textured beast. Without word of new release, Twain has secured support slots for Big Thief, Lucy Dacus and Langhorne Slim, as well as sets at Newport Folk, Nelsonville Music Festival and Whispering Beard.

The new album was co-recorded by Adrian Olsen (Natalie Prass, Matthew E. White, Flo Morrissey, Foxygen) and Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog. In addition to select dates supporting Big Thief and Lucy Dacus, Twain will continue a run with Langhorne Slim this fall. Notable plays include New York City’s Bowery Ballroom and Washington D.C.’s Sixth & I Historic Synagogue.
