Yonatan Gat (who recently won Village Voice’s “Best Guitarist of 2013”) releases the final single off of ‘Iberian Passage’. “Conga Manteca” alludes both to Dizzy Gillespie’s Afro-Cuban ventures, and to a pork-sandwich restaurant in Porto that achieves its signature flavor by not changing the sauce in the pot for over 35 years. The song inventively blends Cuban beats and Middle Eastern guitars with Gat’s punk energies.
