YACHT Sign to Downtown Records, Release “Where Does This Disco” and Jerome LOL RemixNorth American Tour Starts This Weekend

The LA-based conceptual pop group YACHT, comprised of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, is back with new music and news of their signing to Downtown Records. In a surprise gift to fans, YACHT have released their first new material since January’s “Plastic Soul” single, with new gem “Where Does This Disco?” arriving alongside a sparkling remix courtesy of Jerome LOL. Both are available now for streaming and for purchase via iTunes.

Fans can purchase the songs in a “special editioned object” throughout YACHT’s upcoming North American tour with Burger Records’ White Fang, which includes two New York dates and kicks off this weekend in Denver. The duo explain the story behind the track:

Where Does This Disco? is about love and compact discs. They’re both on the edge of becoming obsolete, and they both get scratched if you play them too hard. They’re both mirrors, but one is still the best medium we have for connecting with each other.

Where Does This Disco? is our first release on Downtown Records. It’s also the namesake for our upcoming North American tour, during which a special editioned object containing this song will be available for purchase. The remix is by the wildly talented Jerome LOL, one-half of DJ Dodger Stadium, and wholly from the Internet.”

While YACHT have yet to release a full LP since 2011’s Shangri-La, 2014 has been busy for the duo, seeing them perform and speak at Moogfest, surprise Coachella fans with a live version of “Psychic City” with Classixx, release the video and single for “Plastic Soul,” and develop a free iPhone app, 5 Every Day.

The duo have been invited to speak about their multidisciplinary creative approach at WIRED Magazine’s WIRED by Design conference in Marin County, CA from September 29th-October 1st. Taking place at the legendary Skywalker Ranch, Claire and Jona will speak alongside a variety of renowned creatives, from Momofuku chef David Chang to Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, multimedia artist Doug Aitken, Baltimore experimental artist Dan Deacon, and top innovators in architecture, venture design, aerospace engineering, and and more.
