WIN WIN & Absolutely Free Share Remixes

WIN WIN & Absolutely Free Share Remixes

WIN WIN & Absolutely Free share a new remix swap ahead of their appearances at Arts & Crafts’ showcase at POP Montreal this Saturday, September 19th at Fairmount Theatre. The remixes were premiered today via Exclaim! who describes Toronto duo Absolutely Free’s remix of WIN WIN’s “Don’t Freak Out” as “an echoing, drawn-out, synth-driven instrumental” and says Brooklyn trio WIN WIN’s remixed version of Absolutely Free’s “Burred Lens” “opens with minimalist electronic accompaniment and distant-sounding vocals before building into a burst of bleeps, bloops and soothing beats.” The remixes are available for download and streaming today. WIN WIN’s Primaries LP is out now on Arts & Crafts.

WIN WIN conjures its most transportive music and visual work to date with Primaries: an elastic and hyper-modern album of seductive pop permanence and psychoactive electronics. Moving away from sampling as instrument and inspiration, Primaries places WIN WIN firmly in the realm of the analog and psychedelic: anthropomorphic and cybernetic: a blueprint for a sound that’s simultaneously classic and futuristic. It is this rival allure, of organic patterns to digital systems, that defines the reverse-bionic beauty of Primaries. With Primaries, the WIN WIN three have honed their most imaginative statement yet: an absolute monster of an artwork with the zeitgeist of 2015 as its muse. The possibilities are endless when matching human and circumstance to machine. This is the new chromatic sheen: a crude and un-editable vessel, for the pulse of impulse, and transitive improvisation forever. WIN WIN is known widely for sharing founding members with seminal B’more party-rap group Spank Rock, for its live, visual, and recording production work for Porter Robinson, The Kills, Hot Chip, Prince Rama, and official remix credits for Thom Yorke, Björk, and many more.
