Wavves Share “Million Enemies” Video

Wavves shares a new video for "You're Welcome"

Before setting out on tour next week in support of their forthcoming album You’re Welcome, Wavves is back today to share a new video. The clip for “Million Enemies,” the fourth single taken from the new album, was created and produced by Gilles O’Kane and Rocco Rivetti and is the first video that the band is sharing from the project.

Speaking about the video’s inspiration O’Kane and Rivetti say, “Wavves came to us with the initial concept of a glam-rock inspired performance video in the style of those 1970’s U.K. music shows like Top of the Pops, or The Old Grey Whistle Test. I’m a big fan of those early Glam performances by artists like Bowie, T.Rex & Roxy Music. Everything about their performances were astonishing, unique, even by today’s standards. But in the 70’s there was no precedent. I imagined how inconceivable it would have been to watch those performances on live TV, and from that place came the idea for the narrative. The video for ‘Million Enemies’ explores the power of music as a method of escapism, Glam Rock fashion, counter-culture super fandom, teenage rebellion, and the unique sense of belonging that’s created by listening to your favorite artist.”

Wavves will be heading out on a 36-stop North American tour starting on April 21st and ending on June 6th, playing shows with both Blink 182 and fellow Ghost Ramp artist Kino Kimino along the way. You’re Welcome is set to release on May 19th via Wavves’ own Ghost Ramp label, and is available for pre-order on vinyl, CD, and cassette on Ghost Ramp’s website now.
