Drag City presents “Gun,” a brand-new Scout Niblett video featuring a brand-new tune from her album, It’s Up to Emma, in stores May 21st on, you guessed it, Drag City. The video follows Scout as she embraces her inner Snow White and wanders through a local fair spreading good will as only Scout-as-Snow-White can. “Gun” is quite the surreal fantasia, evoking fragility and innocence while also conjuring spite and vengeance in an everyday American landscape. The palpably weird seems to hang over the scenes of Scout at the fair, waving from a carousel, soaring into the sky on a ferris wheel and posing with kids for family photo-ops; her sunny demeanor juxtaposing pleasantly with the circumstances within the song. No kidding, the combination of musical, lyrical and video images has an eminently debatable effect upon the viewer in today’s mixed-up, muddled-up world.
