Sheffield lads, The Crookes, love the holiday season, and to help celebrate with you and yours, have announced their annual holiday single, “You’re Just Like Christmas”, available tomorrow in North America via Modern Outsider (today in UK/Europe via Fierce Panda). In conjunction, The Crookes have premiered a video for the single, filmed in the bright sun of California in October, which you can watch below.
Of the new single, songwriter/guitarist Daniel Hopewell said, “We wanted to write a Christmas song that was unashamedly pop and feel-good. People would probably expect us to write a melancholic, minor Christmas song so we tried to do the opposite of that, whilst still hopefully playing around with the usual Christmas clichés. We knew we were going to Santa Cruz on the last US tour and decided to all dress up as Santa Claus and visit the Boardwalk and basically just mess about for the day and see what footage we got. Tongues were firmly in cheeks!”
The single wraps up a tremendously busy 2014, which saw The Crookes release their third full-length album, Soapbox, in April, supported by multiple tours, including SXSW, CMJ, TBD Festival, Europe, and the UK, the latter of which just wrapped last night in Derby, with a new video for the single, “Howl”, which premiered last week.
