The Coathangers Share Song From Upcoming LP

The Coathangers share new song "Springfield Cannonball", 'Suck My Shirt' out 3/18 on Suicide Squeeze. The Coathangers play March 8th in Atlanta, Ga.

The Coathangers fourth full-length album, Suck My Shirt is out March 18th on Suicide Squeeze Records. The first pressing is limited to 1,000 copies (100 custom mint vinyl / 900 fluorescent green vinyl). Suicide Squeeze also just repressed the Larceny & Old Lace LP, limited to 500 copies (100 fluorescent pink vinyl / 400 translucent green vinyl). The 100 mint and 100 fluorescent pink copies are only available through The Coathangers on the road.

The ladies bang out another full North American tour this spring – bringing their sassy and unruly live performance to this year’s SXSW, Spillover, Burgerama Fests and legs with The Black Lips and Audacity – see a full list of dates below.

This time around, the band retains the alluring spontaneity and happy accidents of their early releases, but this time the (now) trio push sounds far more deliberate and locked-in than anything they’ve done in the past.  Spikey, jarring guitar riffs, raspy vocals and solid melodic hooks are still apparent on their sophisticated side which sounds less like a jubilant version of Huggy Bear and more like the art-pop of late-era Minutemen.

The Coathangers were a band before they were musicians. The trio started out in Atlanta as an excuse to hang out, play parties and weren’t going to let the fact that none of them knew how to play any instruments get in the way of having a good time. The backstory certainly added to the charm of early songs that resided somewhere between no-wave’s caustic stabs of dissonance and garage rock’s primal minimalism. In the seven years since their formation, The Coathangers have released a slew of records and toured across North America and Europe countless times.
