Superchunk Share New Video And Tour Dates

Superchunk share the Phil Morrison-directed video for "Me & You & Jackie Mittoo""I Hate Music Comes Out August 20 on Merge Records.

Superchunk‘s I Hate Music will be in stores tomorrow. The band kicks off release week with the release of the new video for “Me & You & Jackie Mittoo.” Including photos submitted by music lovers around the country, the “Jackie” video will require multiple viewings to uncover all of the fun details.

Mac shared the inspiration behind the song and the video: “‘Me & You & Jackie Mittoo’ is a song about bonding over records, and the role music can play in your life and relationships. We asked friends, family, and some of our favorite record stores to collect photographs of people holding an album that is meaningful to them in some way—not necessarily “favorite,” though we’re sure plenty of them are. Director Phil Morrison (Junebug) took that concept and shaped it into an amazing piece of vinyl worship and music love, featuring the collected photos as well as a beautiful diorama by the artist Ann Wood.”

Superchunk will kick off their US tour dates in support of I Hate Music in Atlanta on August 22, but Triangle fans will get a release-day treat: the band will play a surprise early show at The Pinhook in Durham on Tuesday, August 20, as part of an “I Hate Happy Hour” event from 6–8 p.m. Admission is free, but you will need a ticket to get in.
