Snowblink announce new single “How Now”

Snowblink announce new single "How Now". The track comes off their forthcoming release, out later this year.

Toronto/Los Angeles duo Snowblink, aka Daniela Gesundheit and Dan Golden, have announced a new single, “How Now”, available now via Outside Music. The band has also announced their first New York City performance in three years, April 27 at Cake Shop. The single provides a first taste from their third full-length album, due to arrive later in 2016.

“How Now” is the first new music from Snowblink since their 2012 album, Inner Classics (Arts & Crafts), but the duo have been far from idle these past few years. A collaboration with Feist and Montreal’s AroarA for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize gala led to the formation of the seven-headed superband Hydra, which performed songs from all three acts at festivals across North America.

2014 saw Gesundheit as the featured vocalist, alongside Brian Eno, on Owen Pallett’s In Conflict, and Zammuto’s Anchor, as vocalist, and co-writer. As well, she staged Returning Current, a collaboration with acoustic biologist Katy Payne (The Song Of The Humpback Whale), which assembled choirs in different cities in North America to apprentice themselves to the musicality of Humpback whales and African elephants.

“How Now” is a hushed, yet powerful mantra, introducing the next phase in Snowblink’s evolvement as musicians. Gesundheit describes her songs as “non-demoninational devotional pop,” defining devotion as “any attempt to deepen our deep ends.” Snowblink is sensual, not sterile, elegantly imperfect, Wabi Sabi. Gesundheit’s emphatic, mesmeric lyrics, when coupled with Goldman’s patient and narcotic arranging and production style, establish a genuine intimacy without telling us what to feel.
