Sir Was releases video for “Falcon”

sir Was Shares Video for "Falcon," the track comes off Sir Was' Debut EP, "Says Hi"

After recently signing to City Slang and announcing his debut EP, Gothenburg-based sir Was has released a new video for the single, “Falcon.” the track illustrates what is special about newcomer sir Was. The video, set in and around Gothenburg, Sweden, takes us further down the pathway of discovering what is unique about sir Was and the city he inhabits.

Director Fredrik Egerstrand (who also directed sir Was’ “A Minor Life” video) weaves a loose narrative into a beautifully shot portrait of an artist and a landscape. In it, the main character embarks on a sad, solitary karaoke journey. In the words of sir Was, “The TV was heavy but that’s what we do for the sake of art!”

“Stayed behind these walls too long,” a vulnerable falsetto advised us in the opening lines to “A Minor Life,” the opening track to sir Was’ debut EP, sir Was Says Hi. “Kept my life on hold too long/ Dreaming of all I was not…” Well, those walls tumble further down on “Falcon”, the second track to be made available, an equally unorthodox and similarly exceptional tune that somehow mixes Beck, David Crosby and D’Angelo. Built around birdsong, a supple groove and a tremulous organ, it’s strangely haunting and yet inexplicably exhilarating, voices ricocheting off one another as they address loneliness, its solution and the requisite compromises.

Says Hi will be released June 3rd via City Slang. Tour dates have been announced at Monarch in Berlin on May 31st and The Old Blue Last in London on June 1st.
