Single Mothers Premiere “Half-Lit” Video

Single Mothers released their debut full-length album yesterday. Negative Qualities was released by HXC Recordings, an XL imprint (and in Canada by Dine Alone Records). Today, they release their video for the single “Half-Lit”.

Half-Lit” was directed by Droga5’s Spencer LaVallee (http://www.spencerlavallee.com). LaVallee says: “When I first heard Single Mothers, I was drawn to the way they contrasted these witty, sardonic lyrics against this blisteringly raw instrumentation. I wanted the video to embrace this duality, capture the humor and the aggression at the same time. Light and dark. The song’s called Half-Lit, so why not light it halfway?”

The band is also about to go back on the road after a brief rest. Their MANY dates are below and include a stop at CMJ and shows with kindred spirits The Hold Steady.

Led by mercurial troubadour Drew Thomson, Single Mothers was shakily hatched in London, Ontario where it ran through a dozen members before finally recording its debut album last year. At 10 songs.
