Last winter Royal Canoe teamed up with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s New Music Festival and Pop Nuit to present a concert of selections from Beck’s Song Reader project. The Song Reader was an album originally released by Beck only on sheet music. The band moulded ten of the songs into their own versions. These songs were then performed live at the Pantages Theatre in Winnipeg, MB where audio and video of the show was recorded. The Royal Canoe interpretations even got a shout out from Beck himself!

A few weeks ago Beck released his musical version of the Song Reader songs. In light of this the band thought it about time to make their versions more readily available. So they chose three studio recordings and four live tracks and made them available for purchase via royalcanoe.bandcamp.com.
