Brooklyn-based independent record label PaperCup Music has announced a slew of new signings to their roster, including Gal Pals, Needle Points, Suburban Living and The Muscadettes, with plans to release music from all four between later this year and early 2015. The four new acts, join a roster that already includes Tennis System, Little Racer, The Teen Age, BOYTOY, BLUFFING, Weekender and Raccoon Fighter.

Founded in early 2013, PaperCup Music is a Brooklyn-based independent record label specializing in vinyl and digital releases. Utilizing the combined experiences of its founders, a musician turned manager, and a major label attorney, PaperCup’s mission is simple – to release music by original, uncompromising artists. Committed to its artists and developing their vision, PaperCup Music believes in the simple motto, “good music speaks volumes.”

Gal Pals are Jillian Talley (drums) and Lauren Mikus (guitar), a Los Angeles-via-Texas duo aiming to create pop gold on their debut full-length album due out this fall. Gal Pals released two 7″ singles in 2013, touring Texas, playing SXSW and garnering some excellent praise from media. Bleach said,“Gal Pals sound of spunk, of yellow-filtered memories, and the desperate need of an attitude adjustment.” In early 2014, Talley and Mikus packed up their bags and headed out west with their record in hand. The duo plan to spend much of the fall on the road.

Needle Points are a quintet from the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia; a far-out expression in stripped-down magic, with jangly riffs, tribal beats, and fuzzy guitar tones. The group, which consists of Colly Holloway (vocals), David Ulrich (guitar), Brian Langan (bass), Judy Somewhere and Dani Kinoshita (both drums), plays a mix of old-era psych rock & new soul and made their debut with the November 2013 self-released EP, Bom Tugangu. Needle Points will release a new 7″ single this fall.

Suburban Living aka Wesley Bunch recently relocated to Philadelphia from Virginia Beach, VA.Bunch released the highly acclaimed EP, Copper’s Dream in 2012, followed by the “Always Eyes” 7″ single in 2013 on Dialog Records. In the past year, Suburban Living has toured frequently up and down the East Coast, and made appearances at CMJ, SXSW and multiple festival dates in Japan. After which Bunch returned to Virginia Beach to record his self-titled debut record at EarthSound Studios with good friend and engineer Mark Padgett. With the full-length album, Suburban Living enters a new saga with a refined “Dream Pop” sound – darker, with a more personal lyrical approach.

The Muscadettes are led by twin sisters Chantal and Kathleen Ambridge, hailing originally from California’s Silicon Valley, but raised in Montreal. Influenced by sixties surf music and 90’s grunge, the girls create an energetic rock, balanced out by sugary vocal harmonies only sisters could deliver. A night out in Montreal’s mythical underground bar, L’ESCO, led to a chance encounter with Joe Gagné (Les Breastfeeders) who joined the girls on lead guitar, followed by Thomas Augustin (Malajube) on keys. The Muscadettes released a limited-edition self-titled EP in late 2012, garnering excellent reviews from the local media. In 2013 the girls brought their schoolyard shouts and surf-soaked licks to Toronto’s NXNE and Quebec City’s OFF Festival, as well as touring throughout Quebec. Their debut full-length album was recorded by Ryan Battistuzzi (Malajube) at Montreal’s famed Breakglass Studio and mixed in Los Angeles by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast/Fidlar), and is set to be released in early 2015.
