Norway’s Sandra Kolstad debuts alien pop opus

Norway's Sandra Kolstad announces 'Zero Gravity State of Mind'

Sandra Kolstad makes electronic pop music. Kolstad has announced the release of her third album, Zero Gravity State of Mind, for March 3rd, 2015 via Red Eye Transit. Coupled with the announcement, Kolstad has also released the fantastical video for album standout “My Yellow Heart”, premiering today, you can watch the clip below.

Directed by Dan Huiting, the video is an extraterrestrial visual feast, shot on-location in Iceland.

Zero Gravity State of Mind is Kolstad’s third and most adventurous release to date. Her two prior full-length albums, 2011’s CRUX and 2012’s (Nothing Lasts) Forever, found the classically trained pianist gradually exploring new electronic-minded territory. Ranging from sweeping ballads to twinkling pop gems, Zero Gravity State of Mind is Kolstad’s alien pop opus.

Often described as Norway’s queen of electronic pop, She has also become known for her highly visual performances, recently releasing a steady stream of videos for the tracks from her new album (see the acrobatic “Zero Gravity State of Mind” and the colorful “Rooms”). In her ambitious live performances, she combines expressive, joyful dancing swathed in kaleidoscopic projected lights, with accompaniment from drummer Kyrre Bjørka?s and skwee producer Sprutbass on bass.

Zero Gravity State of Mind is out 3/3/2015 on Red Eye Transit.
