Nite Jewel streams “Had To Let Me Go”

Nite Jewel streams new “Had To Let Me Go”, the track is off her forthcoming release 'Had To Let Me Go'. Nite Jewel, plays 5/20 in Los Angeles, CA.

Nite Jewel has shared the new song “Had To Let Me Go,” off her forthcoming release Real High (out this Friday, May 5 via her own Gloriette Records). Featuring Dam-Funk on guitar synth and Cole M.G.N., “Had To Let Me Go” “explores a relationship that one enters into as a naive youngster with someone older and wiser” Nite Jewel, aka Ramona Gonzalez says of the new track. “It channels the kind of excitement one feels when fostering love amidst difference, but coupled with the realization that this kind of difference can’t last.”

Nite Jewel also announces a Real High album listening party this Thursday, May 4th at the Upstairs Bar at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles which is free and open to the public and will feature a Nite Jewel DJ set along with special guests. Nite Jewel also embarks on her first US Tour in 5 years starting this July, with support from Geneva Jacuzzi and Harriet Brown.

“I’m looking for a real high and a real low, isn’t that the way love goes?” sings Los Angeles’s Ramona Gonzalez, aka Nite Jewel, on the Real High title track. The extraordinary peaks of love are incomparable, but these moments of euphoria are coupled with the feeling that they are fleeting, that conflict lies ahead or worse, inner solitude. Nevertheless, you go ahead — love is new every time and each time there are infinite ways to experience it and still never totally understand the story.

Recorded over the course of four years in Los Angeles with the help of Cole M.G.N., these songs of transformational love and relentless nostalgia present the most personal, lyric driven Nite Jewel record to date. With everything from expansive, futuristic balladry (“Real High,” “Part Of Me”) to gauzy dance-floor hits (“2 Good 2 Be True,” “The Answer”), Featuring contributions from long-time collaborators such as Dâm-Funk, Droop-E, and Julia Holter.
