No one could ever call Daniel Benjamin lazy. This CMJ, he played 14 shows, half with his brother’s electronic project Doldrums and the other in his own band, Moon King. The result of a collaboration between Daniel and Maddy Wilde, Moon King released their debut EP, Obsession I, this summer on One Big Silence, the label founded by Mike Haliechuk from Fucked Up and home to debut releases from Austra and Diamond Rings.

You can check out “Sleeping In My Car” and “Only Child,”With an eclectic sound that fluctuates between fast-paced ’80s punk riffs and Cocteau Twins-laced electronic, dreamlike persuasions, the band will be hitting the road again with Twin Sister and School of Seven Bells on a short tour of the East Coast playing Philadelphia, New York and Boston before taking the stage at next week’s M For Montreal festival
