Mikal Cronin’s “ii) Gold” is part of a six-song cycle that makes up side B of his third album, MCIII, out May 5 worldwide via Merge Records. The album contains blistering guitars and pummeling drums, that greet the listener almost immediately. The lyric “Let your feet sink in deep, watch the demons take hold” foreshadows the song’s dark coda, which features Cronin on the tzouras, a traditional Greek instrument.

Mikal Cronin and his band will be playing shows this spring and summer, including Primavera Sound in Barcelona, with more dates expected to be announced soon.
