LUSH Announce 2016 North American Shows

LUSH Announces Select North American Shows in 2016

UK shoegaze band Lush, featuring Emma Anderson (vocals/guitar), Miki Berenyi (vocals/guitar), and Phil King (bass), have announced details of their first American tour in twenty years. The tour will take Lush through the West Coast this spring, including a set at this year’s Coachella Music & Arts Festival, and selected stops on the East Coast this fall.

Formed in London in 1988 by childhood friends Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi, Lush also included Chris Acland on drums and Phil King on bass (originally Steve Rippon who left in 1990), and were widely acknowledged as one of the pioneers of a sound that was to be christened “shoegaze.” The band signed to 4AD in 1989, and went on to release three full-length albums, an early mini-album, and a number of EPs and singles.

4AD recently released a vinyl reissue of Lush’s “Best Of,” Ciao! worldwide in November, and will be releasing a limited edition box set titled Chorus, on January 22nd, 2016. The box is a five-disc set, comprising the early compilation Gala (1990), the three studio albumsSpooky (1992), Split(1994) and Lovelife(1996), and the B-sides collection Topolino (the Canadian version, also 1996), plus all manner of rarities (B-sides, radio sessions, remixes and demos, some previously unreleased). The artwork for the boxset is by Chris Bigg, who, alongside design chief Vaughan Oliver, was responsible for the iconic 4AD covers in the late Eighties and Nineties.

Justin Welch, formerly of Elastica, will be playing drums for the live performances.
