Lowel Announces New Album and Shares Track on Sound Cloud

Lowell. In a singular name comes one of the most fearless, commanding and multi-talented artists Canada has. Her name stems from the French origin of the word ‘wolf’ so it is unsurprising to learn of her survival, command of attention, global appeal, and the jaw-dropping artist/producer collective that she lined up to help define her songs and young career. September 16, 2014 sees the release of Lowell’s full-length debut album “We Loved Her Dearly” via Arts & Crafts.

At a formative apex in her career, living and writing in the UK Lowell joined the Apparatjik collective formed by Grammy Award-winning producer Martin Terefe and also comprised of Magne Furuholmen (A-ha), Guy Berryman (Coldplay), Jonas Bjerre (Mew). The group collaborated to support her creation of the mini-album “If You Can Solve This Jumble,” and she joined the band onstage to headline the Roskilde Festival in 2012.

Beguiling fans and critics with her debut EP “I Killed Sarah V.” with her bold blend of pop that fearlessly broaches topics usually incongruent with popular music, Lowell writes to empower herself as much as her listeners. Lyrics openly tackle sexual abuse, rape, abortion, and women’s rights. She boldly addresses the lack of LGBT rights in our society as well the ignorance about (and simultaneous obsession with) homosexuality, but her melodies keep songs accessible and fun. Turns out you can still dance while confronting social norms; you can still have fun while defending equality. Lowell’s stream of musical optimism makes it possible.

Having anchored entrancing recent performances at SXSW and Field Trip, Lowell has just confirmed a play at TIME Festival in Toronto (alongside GrimesMajical Cloudz and Death Grips) on July 19 at Fort York. Stay tuned for more news and details about Lowell.
