Many writers and fans have talked about the social and cultural subject behind Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, which could be why the album was a favourite of music fans. Not much has been talked about how painfully and intimately personal the record is. On To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar has written about his battles with depression and substance abuse. The short film, “God Is Gangsta” (which is essentially two music videos for “u” and “For Sale”), gives us finally a clear visual behind the album.
