Norwegian band Highasakite’s single “Golden Ticket,” vocalist Ingrid Helene Håvik sets a somber tone: “God if you’re still watching / There are no more happy days / God if you’re still watching / There’s no more celebration.” Though the sentiments are dark, her voice is simultaneously ethereal and booming, especially when paired with the five-piece’s indie pop synths and keys. The track’s accompanying video, in which Håvik appears covered in gold glitter as well as in blacklight paint. When not focused on Håvik, flashes of light illuminate the silhouette of a modern dancer.

“The video started with pictures I found on the internet, and it kind of grew out from that,” Håvik explains. The song itself, however, “is very much about escapism, both escaping your yourself and the world—just wanting to get high and get out, basically,” she said when it was released in April.

Highasakite’s first US Headline Tour – a 10-date run in September that follows a hefty summer tour schedule, including billings at Latitude Festival, Roskilde Festival, Hurricane & Southside Festivals and a mainstage headlining slot at Norway’s renowned Øya Festival. Festivities kick off this week, with the band’s performance at The Great Escape on Thursday, May 19th signaling the start of their Camp Echo UK/EU Tour. Full tour dates below…
