Future Brown Sign to Warp, Stream New Track

Future Brown (Fatima al Qadiri, Nguzunguzu, J-Cush) Sign to Warp // Stream New Track

In the spirit of a generation weaned on interconnectivity, Future Brown are aggregating, assembling, innovating. Nguzunguzu, J-Cush and Fatima al Qadiri, together as Future Brown, are creating a fusion of rap, grime, dancehall, R&B, reggaeton and all points between, blended with a cosmopolitan affinity for rich electronics and futuristic visual art that could only exist as a product of the internet’s insatiable inclusivity.

Their first Warp release consolidates the first two missives from Future Brown. “Wanna Party” spotlights the laser focus of rising Chicago star Tink who is currently busy at work with Timbaland on her debut album. An idiosyncratic anthem in the making, it incorporates creeping synths of classic horror films while aiming squarely for the club. New Orleans resident and Lil Wayne favorite 3D Na’Tee runs rampant over the “Wanna Party” Remix.

From meeting together at America’s ground breaking parties like J’s Lit City Raves, Future Brown formed as a way to combine their global musical range and art-world heft into a juggernaut that’s as equally at home tearing down warehouses as it is being installed in MoMa. Taking their name from a color that doesn’t exist in nature, Future Brown is steeped in diasporic sounds, forming their own signature takes on urban music. Working in unison on every studio production, their mutual love of global beats and vocalist-driven music forms a fabric derived from their myriad influences.

Future Brown’s first step into performance sphere was taken at MoMA’s PS1 location with frequent collaborators DIS Magazine and THV Ent. For the Gallery’s series FORMS the group installed a basketball arena exhibition as well as designed and choreographed Drills, a performance of warm-up exercises, and ball handling. Since then Future Brown have performed at Villette Sonique in Paris as well as Sonar Barcelona, and will be playing select dates at art and music festivals through 2014.
