Foxygen release new video for “Avalon”

Foxygen release new video for "Avalon". The band continues their tour on August 21st in Hamburg, Germany.

Foxygen have released a video for their track “Avalon”. Foxygen’s Sam France and Jonathan Rado star in the short film as themselves. The video takes us behind the scenes of Rado’s would-be directorial debut. France momentarily thwarts Rado’s dream and takes over direction of the video. They eventually put their differences aside and the viewer is treated to a slideshow of the longtime friends over the years. It’s simultaneously an ode to and send-up of Hollywood, a place the two are no strangers to having grown up in the area and been on studio back lots as extras and late night television performers alike.

Accompanying the “Avalon” video are Hang demos available for download via WeTransfer. The Los Angeles pair have an uncanny knack for pulling together myriad strands of influences to an elaborate, uncompromising vision. The exclusive package offers a glimpse into what would become Foxygen’s first proper studio record. Hang was recorded with the brother rhythm section duo of Brian and Michael D’Addario, also known as the Lemon Twigs, and features Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips on select tracks. Written and produced entirely by Foxygen, Hang was recorded on 2” tape at Electro Vox Studios in Los Angeles.

After a run of dates in North America, Foxygen continue their tour in support of Hang this month across Europe. Every song on Hang features a 40-plus-piece symphony orchestra arranged and conducted by Trey Pollard with additional arranging from Matthew E. White. To help bring Hang to life on the road, Foxygen are traveling with a nine-piece band — consisting of France (vocals), Rado (keys, guitar, backing vocals), Pollard (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Jackie Cohen (backing vocals), Cameron Ralston (bass, backing vocals), Pinson Chanselle (drums), Reginald Chapman (trombone), Rob Quallich (trumpet), and Marcus Tenney (saxophone) — with additional players backing them in select cities.
