The Dead Trees release new single “My Time Has Just Begun” from album WHATWAVE

The Dead Trees have come a long way since recording their debut Fort Music EP in Boston. Moving west to Portland was the best decision they made, crossing paths with Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. who took the band on two US tours. That brought them to recorded their first full-length album, touring Europe, Brazil and the U.S. with the likes of MGMT, Little Joy, The Whigs and Adam Green.

The Dead Trees, consisting of Michael Ian Cummings, Todd Dalhoff, Matthew Borg and Noah Rubin now reside in LA, a move that connected them with producers who helped them put together their best recording to date: a buoyant, scrappy and tuneful collection of songs, with the ragtag and joyous sound of both the band’s adventures and of their sunny new home. “I feel inspired by LA,” says Cummings. “There is space here to think and write without getting distracted. I know no one here, and I kind of like it that way. The sunshine doesn’t hurt either.”

The new track “My Time Has Just Begun” can be grabbed for free here. The Dead Trees has also released a video of performing “Back To LA” at a party in their living room. Check it out here.

The Dead Trees’ album WHATWAVE was recorded in the Hollywood Hills at New King Sound, and features musical contributions from Little Joy’s Fabrizio Moretti, Binki Shapiro and Rodrigo Amarante. The Dead Trees paid for the album with donations pledged by fans and supporters on fundraising website Kickstarer.com.
